A fireplace generates feelings of closeness and romance and usually is a focal point of your room. If you want to add drama to your room, consider giving your fireplace a makeover. HGTV.com has several new ideas on how to make your fireplace stands out. My favorite is the one with the black slate and wood mantel done by Kim Myles of Myles of Style. I like the simple wood mantel resembles the table. It’s such an easy way to add character to your fireplace. I also like the rustic and warm wood tone contrast to dramatic black slate.
